Logitech needs to include some mapping software to determine if these buttons are going to be app specific or global.

I have to click on the desktop or Windows taskbar and then use these buttons to affect their intended action. When the focused window in a web browser, the system sound will not get muted or up/down and calculator will not appear. Overall Review: Took off 1 rating star because the media buttons (mute, volume up/down, calculator, etc) don't always work. Lets me relax my thumb a bit instead of pushing a bit more forward so the thumb is over the spacebar. I do like the other Logitech keyboards that have a fatter spacebar.

Plus the function keys are probably less than 10% of my keypresses and my fingers have to be moved out of position from the main keyboard so I'm looking at them, anyway. For me, I have plenty of desk space in front of the monitor and behind the gel wrist pad for a fatter keyboard but I liked the price, features, and feel of this keyboard.

That is, they aren't full height but instead rectangular in shape. They hunt and peck while watching their fingers on the keyboard and then look up at the monitor to see what they typed in.īecause this is a "slim" keyboard, the function keys are a bit squashed. While I touch type, my family doesn't and you'd be surprised how often they don't know the C key is between the X and V keys. Well, this keyboard isn't cheap so I expect in a year I'll be buying another.

After only 2 weeks of heavy use, I can already see a faint gloss spot for thumbpress wear showing up on the spacebar. They look nice but will eventually rub off. The keycap legends are the type that are glued on. For this one, it's actually faster to quickly tap and re-tap the CapsLock or NumLock keys to see which LEDs change rather than bend other and squint at the tiny icons. Different keyboards sometime have their order different so I don't bother memorizing which keyboard has what order. They should've put some white lettering on the black case so a quick glance would let you know the LED means what. There are tiny icons in the plastic lens above the LEDs but you won't be able to read them unless you bend over to put your eyes real close. While there are LEDs to show status for ScrollLock, CapsLock, and NumLock, you'll have to guess which LED represents what state. This might actually be a defect in Microsoft's choice of multiple media controls for apps rather than just one global setup (I'm using Vista - although an old OS, I was on XP until my desktop died and had to move to my old laptop). The media keys work only within the focused window i.e., they are app specific. Still, I've had worse keyboards that had almost no outdents on the home keys so these keyboard is about middle of the road for quick homing by feel. I touch type so looking down is a no-no and slows me down. Sometimes I run my fingers over the keyboard and don't feel the outdents so I have to look down. I still prefer the 'home' keys (f and j) to have more pronounced outdents to identify them by feel. This is okay for my fingers but I can see folks with more stubby digits might find it harder to use. This is not a gaming keyboard with N-rollover but it does keep up with my fast typing.Ĭons: Although the keycaps look about right for full size, they are actually slightly smaller. My point is that I'm not *losing* keystrokes.

I'm still getting used to it and occasionally a couple letters come out in reverse (e.g., cmo instead of com) but that's me having to get used to the feel of keys just slightly smaller than I was used to before. I can type pretty fast on this keyboard without losing characters. Nearby users thought I had a machine gun with all the noise of my old keyboards and how fast I could type.īackspace is full (large) sized so I don't miss it when fast typing. Right amount of tactile feedback without all the clacking noise.
